Delacroix on being visited by Baudelaire

From a journal entry dated February 5, 1849:

“M. Baudelaire called just as I was starting work again on the little figure of a woman in oriental dress lying on a sofa, which I have undertaken for M. Thomas, of the Rue du Bac. He told me of the difficulties which Daumier experiences in finishing.

“From there, he jumped to the subject of Proudhon, whom he admires and calls the idol of the people. His views seem exceedingly modern and progressive.”
