Back in Mount Carroll after a few days in Chicago, I took over the kitchen table again to do some monoprints. I make contact monoprints by rolling out a thin layer of intaglio ink, placing a piece of Kitakawa Japanese paper over it, and drawing shapes through the back:
I also paint watercolour onto the plexiglass, and then place slightly dampened paper over it, which lifts the dried watercolour off the plate and prints interesting marks. I can also draw into the watercolour with Q-tips, as shown in the following slideshow:
After they dry overnight, I can repeat the process on the same prints.
