I knew of Alan Sundberg's work beginning five or six years ago, particularly his graphic work in intaglio (etching, engraving, drypoint). So it has been a pleasure to find myself communicating regularly with this German-American artist via Google Plus over the last few months. Seeing some of that work again during a recent internet search prompted me to record some thoughts about it:
I've just finished restoring and assembling my large etching press -- a six week process involving lots of rust removal, scrubbing with steel wool, and repainting.
